
How to Actually Warm Up a Wet Changing Room
Nobody likes that shivering feeling when you step out of a shower into a freezing locker room. It’s miserable. To fix it, we don’t bother trying to heat the air—we go straight for the skin. We use shortwave infrared (IR) technology for this. Think of it like the sun. Instead of waiting for a heater to warm up the whole room, IR beams energy directly onto you. You feel the warmth the second you step under it. It turns a cold zone into a cozy one almost instantly. The secret is in the tubes. We use high-wattage quartz halogen tubes because they don’t mess around. The filament hits its peak temperature basically the moment you flip the switch. Since the heat travels in a straight line, there’s no “lag time.” You aren’t wasting energy heating the ceiling or the empty corners of the room; you’re putting the heat exactly where the people are. Dealing with the damp Water and electricity are a bad mix. We know that. To keep things safe and stop everything from rusting or shorting out, we wrap the whole assembly in IP-rated housings and tough, tempered glass. We also use specific high-temp terminals (usually R7s) to make sure the electrical connections stay tight. In a humid room, a loose connection can cause arcing, and that’s a problem we don’t want. A few things to watch out for Here’s the catch: these lamps pull a lot of power. You can’t just plug them into any old outlet. You’ll need to make sure your wiring and breakers can handle that initial surge of electricity. Also, don’t go overboard. If you cram too many of these into a tiny ceiling, the room will get hot way too fast, which might trip the thermal cut-offs. It’s better to do a quick bit of math on your ceiling height first so you don’t accidentally turn the locker room into a sauna. The best part?
